Every so often our group holds a bit of an event, usual as part of our local farmers market. This is a way of generating interest in all the different vegetable varieties we're growing and eating and, of course, in seed saving. It is an excuse to remind our local media about seed saving and why we're doing it. We've done things like tomato taste tests, pumpkin displays and an event focused on spring greens. Each winter in July we hold a regular Divide & Swap Day for all those things that are more easily propagating by divisions, tubers, bulbs or corms - things like rhubarb, water chestnuts, arrowroot, yacon, berry canes, lemongrass, strawberry runners etc. etc.
Now I'm looking for new ideas. What does your group do to raise the profile of seed saving in your local community?
